About Us – History
The Hoover City Schools Foundation was formed nearly two decades ago to provide individuals and businesses the opportunity to support Hoover City Schools. Your support of the Hoover City Schools Foundation gives you the opportunity to reach more than 13,000 students, their families, teachers and administrators – and to make a real difference in the future of our community.
The Foundation, since 1992, has been actively supporting educational excellence within the Hoover City School System. One major component of the support we provide reaches directly into the classrooms – in the form of our school and classroom grant program. By funding innovative classroom teaching initiatives we are supporting the growth of new ideas, vision and experimentation in the classroom – to better educate and motivate the next generation of our community, business, and world leaders. Most recently, grant awards of nearly $50,000 were distributed to 28 recipients in June of 2011, and those funds are now, in the fall of 2011, at work in the classrooms. These grants support educational enrichment opportunities that would otherwise not be affordable or available to our students.
We recognize that in our children lies our future. And therefore our mission is to help support them, and the schools readying them to carry us into the future, by helping provide the best teaching tools, ideas and resources possible.
